Gunnar

Important Notes

While Gunnar is of roughly average size for a man from his culture, he lacks muscle strength and tires too quickly to do most forms of important farm labor. While advancing technology in his society keeps this from being a burden on his family, he still carries the weight of the social expectations he fails to live up to.

Gunnar tends to have a gloomy personality, often doubting himself and assuming that he just gets in the way of more important people and activities. He's quick to lose confidence and can be easy to push around once he does.

Story

A young man from Midtfelt that has drifted through life. Unable to endure long hours farming, he has attempted many trades and excelled at none of them, leaving him few close friends in his hometown. He has become something of an errand boy, doing odd jobs to justify his existence.

Gunnar avoids despair over his apparent lack of talent by reading about foreign lands, using whatever money he can scrape together to buy books and journals from traveling merchants. It is this hobby that finds him in the marketplace when a magical spell or ritual misfires, sending him and many others across the continent.

Eventually shuffled off to the Last Respite by the locals, Gunnar finds himself with little hope of getting home and needing to work as a servant to the innkeeper. Despite his struggle to adjust to his new reality, the innkeeper recognizes something in him that may finally give his life purpose.
