Kana

A young woman who took vows to a shrine at a young age. She and Mizuyo were close friends throughout their childhood, even beyond the friendship they had with the others at the shrine. When Mizuyo was taken away from the shrine, Kana reluctantly forsook her vows to go save Mizuyo and join her on the run. While on the run, an encounter with a spirit caused her right hand to rot away, forcing the Nam-eun physicians in Guwon to amputate it just above the wrist. After moving in with the family of a young shaman, Kana slowly fell in love with the shaman's younger brother In-shik as he helped her adapt to her new life.

By the start of the second book, Kana and In-shik's relationship has progressed far enough that they are expecting a child. She has also adapted to the use of her one hand, rarely making mistakes regarding her missing hand.
