Kyoko Hayashi

Kyoko tends to wear her hair in a low ponytail draped over her shoulder. Her hair starts to gray in her mid forties.

Kyoko is playful and sometimes silly, especially with her daughters. She loves teasing them, and can be very permissive compared to other parents. She is also very supportive of the people she cares about, ready to drop the goofiness if necessary to address something bothering or threatening them. She has a very dim view of oppression, bigotry, and abuse, and so on the rare times she confronts people about these she can become heated.

Despite making many sexual or flirtatious jokes with her friends and family, Kyoko has little experience with romance in most world states, having focused on raising Nishie. As such, she gets flustered when she does recieve romantic attention.

Story

Kyoko is an orphan, and thus was raised in an orphanage. Due to the stigma surrounding orphans in Japan, it was a rough childhood. Upon becoming an adult, Kyoko had to strugle to prove herself due to being an orphan and a woman. Part of the reason she has her current programming job was because she was recommended as a hard worker by another orphan from the same orphanage. Due to this upbringing, Kyoko has a different view on family relationships than most might have.

After getting settled in her job, Kyoko went back to the orphanage to see if there was anything she could do for any of the kids there. While she felt powerless to change the system, she ended up meeting Nishie, and the two bonded quickly. As soon as Kyoko turned 25 and was legally able to adopt Nishie, she did so. As Kyoko had been an orphan herself, she doesn't expect Nishie to behave the way most Japanese expect adopted children to behave, instead preferring to act as if they were blood relatives.
