Important Notes

During high school, Shiori keeps her appearance pristine when she is in public. Her waist-length hair is perfectly combed straight and kept in a ponytail complete with a ribbon. After high school, she only bothers with this look during special occasions.

When not in public, Shiori lets herself get sloppy. She’ll wear her hair in a ponytail to keep it out of her way, but she doesn’t put any additional effort into her appearance. After dropping out of university, she makes this her default look, even when she goes outside.

During her high school years, Shiori tends to be polite around strangers. She doesn’t strive to fit the appearance of the ideal traditional girl, but she doesn’t contradict it when others see her that way. She gets more animated when she opens up to close friends about her interests.

After a number of unfortunate events, Shiori’s demeanor and personality makes a major shift. By around the age of 19, Shiori has become reserved and self-loathing. She actively sabotages her relationships, not believing herself to be worth the effort. By this point, only those who are willing to endure Shiori’s constant attempts to demean herself are able to find the excited girl she used to be.

After reconnecting with some of her friends and starting therapy in her early 20s, Shiori manages to stabilize herself a bit. While she is still struggling to manage her depression and antisocial tendencies, she isn’t quite as self-destructive as she was before.

When upset, Shiori doesn’t usually cry. Even when she does start to sob, she almost never produces tears. This bothers her sometimes, since it makes her feel like she’s not as upset as she “should” be in such situations.

Story

Shiori Goto is the older of two siblings. She has an obsessive interest in video games, to the point where it can cripple other aspects of her life. While she was able to get by with decent grades and a positive public image up through high school by creating a polite persona, a series of events shatters this dual life. In quick succession, Shiori lost her beloved pet dog, failed out of university, and alienated most of her friends. Holing up in a cheap apartment with her video games and university allowance, she refuses to return home and thus has turned to streaming games to pay her rent.

Note: The details of Shiori’s life vary across the different world states (storylines) of the games she appears in. Some common traits are:

• Becoming friends with Himeka, Nanami, and a few other girls during high school at Solana Academy.
• Moving to Akiramine to attend university, then dropping out but remaining in the city.
• Attempting to cut contact with most of her school friends after succumbing to her depression.
• Eventually reconnecting to some of her friends, making her realize she needs support in order to survive.
